Celebrating Excellence in Social Studies Education
This year, Bay Creek Middle School (GA) teacher Hope Bentley Culpepper (’05) has been honored with the Gwen Hutcheson Outstanding Social Studies Educator Award, presented by the Georgia Council for the Social Studies (GCSS) at its annual conference this October. This prestigious recognition celebrates those who go beyond the mark of excellence, showing not only exceptional teaching skills but also a career-long commitment to social studies education.
With 18 years of teaching experience, including 15 years in seventh-grade, Hope has made an indelible impact at Bay Creek, where she has been a staple since its doors opened in 2009. Known for her unwavering commitment to fostering a love of history and social understanding in young minds, she has inspired countless students through engaging lessons, thoughtful discussions, and real-world connections that make history come alive.
Principal Jeremiah Reily describes this award as “more than just an acknowledgment of a good teacher; it’s a recognition of someone who has been consistently outstanding for an extended period, a lifetime achievement.”
Outside of the classroom, Hope is married with two young sons and a beloved beagle.
Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
