- Complete a graduate application. You may complete and submit the Graduate Studies Application online.
- Submit your official college transcripts. Check with your undergraduate registrar to have official transcripts sent to us at grad.studies@furman.edu. If you are already a Furman student, we will have your transcripts.

Admissions Information by Program
The Master of Arts in Strategic Design blends design, business, and communication in an immersive, professional-level environment. Students graduate with a polished portfolio, real-world experience, and valuable industry connections. Take classes full-time or part-time!
Cost
$950 per credit, or $39,900 total.
Admission/Application Requirements
Available start terms: Fall, Spring, Summer
- A graduate admissions application, accompanied by a one-time, non-refundable application fee of $55 (*fee waived if submitted by early application deadline).
- Two recommendations submitted through a link sent to each recommender.
- Admissions Essay (500 words).
- Cumulative GPA of no less than 2.5 (2.75 preferred) or with permission of the Program Director upon application and/or appeal.
- Official transcripts from each higher education institution previously attended.
- Admission Interview.
- OPTIONAL portfolio to show prior design, marketing, social strategy or studio art experience.
This program emboldens students to develop team-based solutions for the challenges facing the industries, organizations, and communities they serve.
Starting in Fall 2024, students enrolled in this full-time program will complete coursework in 12 months (three terms).

We are seeking students who wish to actively participate in conversations regarding advocacy and social policy, then work towards making tangible change within our communities. You can pursue your passion at a pace that works for you – two years or part-time.

- Biology (two terms)
- Chemistry (two terms)

- Optional: MCAT, DAT, and/or GRE scores

Professional Licensure Disclosure
If you reside outside of South Carolina and are interested in completing an online or distance-education program with Furman University that leads to a professional license or certification in your home state, it is imperative that you understand the regulations and requirements for your home state prior to enrolling in any academic program.
Furman’s Teacher Education programs meet the state educational requirements for licensure or certification in South Carolina and are approved by the South Carolina Department of Education. While South Carolina has a reciprocity agreement with most states, applicants would want to verify with their State Department of Education that a Furman degree would meet their state’s specific requirements and be accepted for certification in their state.

SC-CREATE – South Carolina Department of Education underwrites course tuition and textbook costs for individuals pursuing initial, alternative, and add-on licensure programs in special education and related services.
South Carolina Teacher Loan Programs – Available for programs in critical-needs areas, the South Carolina Teacher Loan Program provides Teacher Loans to South Carolina residents interested in the teaching profession and Career Changers Loans for South Carolina residents interested in changing careers to become a teacher.
