The faculty and staff of Furman University share your exceptional vision and ambition for all aspects of your life, in and out of the classroom. Your personal and professional development, and that of your peers, is the cornerstone of a partnership that will last during your years here and beyond. As you well know, alcohol is a significant issue in the lives of students in both high school, college and throughout our lives. Whether you abstain from alcohol entirely or not, it is an influence in our lives and in the lives of our families and friends. Furman University has joined together with many top universities in the country in adopting “Get Inclusive” as our alcohol, drugs and sexual assault prevention initiative. This is not an over-simplified, lecture style diatribe about the use of substances. It is a thoughtful, educational program for adults committed to thinking about their life choices.

To this end, we require every new incoming Furman student to complete three 3rd Millennium Programs “Alcohol Wise,” “Cannabis Wise,” and “Consent and Respect.” You will need to complete Part 1 (approximately an hour and a half) by August 21, 2025.

Approximately 45 days later, you will receive an automated email asking you to complete the course. At this time, you will need to log in again to complete Part 2 (approximately 30 minutes).

If you do not complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of “3rd Millennium” by October 3, 2025, a hold will be placed on your registration records making you ineligible to register for Spring 2026 courses. Only once you’ve finished Part 2 will you have completed the entirety of the program.

You will receive an email invitation from 3rdMillennium@furman.edu that will include a link to access the program.

Other Important Information:

  • You will need Internet access and audio capabilities.
  • To avoid technical issues, please use any major web browser (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome) released within the previous two years.
  • You may log in and out as convenient. You do not have to complete the course(s) at one time.
  • The course may include surveys to help personalize your experience and measure students’ attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are confidential; Furman will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students’ answers.

Should you experience problems, technical support is available 24/7 and can be accessed from the “Help” link within the course, or at either 888-810-7990 or help@3rdmil.com

If you have additional questions, please contact Gwen Hirko, Health Promotion Coordinator gwen.hirko@furman.edu or 864-294-2202.

Furman University is deeply committed to the greatest health and welfare, and ultimate success and happiness, of all of our students. We hope you enjoy these courses!
