The Institute’s mission of solving social and ecological issues is carried out through the work of community-engaged research and sustainability consulting.
The Shi Institute’s Applied Sustainability Research team partners with government agencies, nonprofits and community members to address community challenges and provide formative experiences for students through research opportunities. Students, faculty and community partners are able to learn from one another and leverage community assets and expertise to develop creative solutions to promote healthier and more equitable communities.
